***Blurb***

What if one day you woke up and found your heart had been shattered? You lost the one person you loved more than anything. What happens when you learn to move on even though you thought you'd never be able to again? Is it worth the risk to try and let someone in? Is it better to be left alone then take the chance of more headache?

This time will be different. Becca slowly starts to put the shattered pieces of her heart back together only to have it broken again by someone she trusted? Can her heart that was barely healed in the first place be fixed, again?

Becca falls for someone new, but will her heart be safe? Will she survive the secrets that come out from the past? Love is worth the risk. Can she really believe that?

***Excerpt***

“Keegan, this is my sister Bec...ca.” Alec looks right at me apologetically. “Becca, this is Keegan Keller.”

I’m staring at this point. Yes, I am quite literally staring like a complete idiot. All of a sudden, my feet are no longer on the ground, and I’m in a big bear hug. I look over Keegan’s shoulder and I see my brother. He doesn’t know whether to laugh or be worried I might freak out being hugged. So I do what he isn’t expecting, and I hug Keegan back.

“It’s nice to meet you, Keegan.”

He slowly starts putting me down. I swear it takes forever, since he’s probably about six- four and I’m only five-three. I bet it’s an odd scene for Alec to witness because I’m letting someone who isn’t him actually hug me.

Wow, I’m not cringing like I do when Dillon touches me.

“So let me take a look at you.” Keegan looks right at me. Yeah, I’m definitely blushing. “Man, you said she was pretty, but I don’t think you did her justice.” He winks at me.

Oh God, if it wasn’t obvious I was blushing before, it sure is now.

What is happening?

Why is he still staring at me?

I’d say I’m an average girl. I have strawberry blonde hair three quarters the way down by

back, with a bunch of freckles scattered along my check and button nose, and steel blue eyes. I’m short and thin, but I’m not as muscular as I used to be since I stopped playing sports after Michael died.

Alec interrupts us. “Hey now, none of that.” He swats at Keegan. “Let’s get out of here.”

I can’t keep a straight face, and I giggle. I actually giggle. Even I’m surprised, but when I look at my brother, he’s completely shocked. I haven’t had a real laugh in eight months. I just smile at him, and he smiles back.

He puts his arms around me, and we head to Keegan’s car.

Maybe this trip wasn’t such a horrible idea after all.

“I can get it,” I said when Keegan reached for my bag causing our hands to graze each other. I feel the heat from the contact warming my thought dead heart.

“I insist,” he said with a sly smile, taking my bag out of my hand and placing it gently in the trunk of his car.
Alec was waiting in the passenger side seat. He’s getting antsy at our interaction. This is all new to Alec.

He’s never seen me this scatterbrained around anyone before, not even Michael. “Can we go already?”

“What’s his problem?” Keegan asked me with a goofy grin on his face.

God he’s more than just attractive, this guy is making my whole body tingle.

“He just woke up from a nap,” I said giving him the same goofy grin back. “He’s a bit of a

grumpy bear.”

Closing the trunk of his car, he smirks at me and winks. “Don’t I know it."

We walked around to the driver’s side door. Keegan has a beautifully restored 1967 Shelby

Mustang Convertible.

It was my grandfather’s,” he said when he caught me checking out the amazing paint job. “It’s nice,” I said, slipping in the driver’s door and into the back seat.
