Review: How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo

Written in her wonderfully honest, edgy, passionate and often hilarious voice, Tiffanie DeBartolo tells the story of Eliza Caelum, a young music journalist, and Paul Hudson, a talented songwriter and lead singer of the band Bananafish. Eliza's reverence for rock is equaled only by Paul's, and the two fall wildly in love.

When Bananafish is signed by a big corporate label, and Paul is on his way to becoming a major rock star, Eliza must make a heartbreaking decision that leads to Paul's sudden disappearance and a surprise knock-your-socks-off ending.

One of those fantastic love connections that you are just in complete envy of. From the moment these two lay eyes on each other their connection is pure and honest. They see the world through different eyes than someone like myself does, and that is so refreshing to read. It really makes me appreciate the small moments and the connections I have with my loved ones.
How to Kill a Rock Star was so very amazing. Though I did feel that I knew what was going to happen, and foresaw the big moments, I still think it was well written and a fun story to read. I think there are the clues that were given that gave me the "Oh, so that's where this is going" moments and I'm not 100% certain if that was purposeful of the author or not but it really doesn't even matter. It was worth reading and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a good TRUE love story and not just cheesy romance.

Metamorphosis by: Erin Noelle

Scarlett MacGregor has lived a very sheltered life courtesy of

her over-the-top controlling parents. Having never been to a co-ed party, much less on a date, Scarlett has relied on her books, her music, and living vicariously through her best friend Evie to keep her sanity as she's patiently awaited her freedom from their rule.

When Scarlett and Evie go away to college, Scarlett quickly meets Ashton, Dylan, and later, Mason, and is thrown into a crash course of like, love, and lust. With Evie's help, she must figure out the difference in the three and which one she wants before she ends up without any of them.

Metamorphosis is the story of Scarlett's transformation from a young, naive girl to a strong, mature young woman and her search for self-discovery and true love.

What a fun story!!

It's seriously as if one of us book nerds got to live out the fantasy of our book boyfriends! What a fun concept!

I adored Scarlet and thought she was way better adjusting to her life outside of her jail of a home life she had, with a great sense of humor to boot!

Very emotional parts and a few twists and turns throughout...made for a great/fun read!

Lone Wolf Rising By: Jami Brumfield

Revenge has deadly consequences. Seventeen year old Rebecca Winters’ main goal for ten years has been to graduate high school and take down the people who killed her parents. When she stumbled upon a werewolf pack in the middle of Phoenix, she knew she’d found a way to make her dream come true. Instead of getting vengeance, an act of war has put her into a position of power and forces her to put her thirst for family justice on a temporary hold.

He is duty bound to protect her. Lucian (Lucky) Lamont is a member of the Protectors, an elite supernatural police force who works for the Authority. Their main goal is to keep humans in the dark about the creatures who live among them. Lucky is assigned to protect and manage Rebecca, despite her refusal of help. His cover is simple; he poses as the dutiful ‘pretend’ boyfriend in order to keep an eye on the new alpha wolf.

She is his mate.

Gabriel Black though taking his pack back from the witch who was chosen as the new alpha would be simple. He thought wrong. His entire world was turned upside down the moment he met Rebecca at the Authority Council meeting…and he was hooked the moment he kissed her to prove she wasn’t dating his best friend, Lucky.

It’s like being torn between two lovers.

Rebecca is pulled in hundreds of different directions while she attempts to find a way to survive the supernatural world, protect her family, and discover who massacred her entire pack days before her first transformation. She doesn’t have time for romance.

But the heart wants what the heart wants.

And the wolf gets what the wolf wants – or so her alpha believes. While Rebecca manages to keep her head above water as she unlocks political and family secrets which could destroy her, she loses sight of the most important people in her life and one of them pays the ultimate price.

Who doesn't love a good werewolf story?

Though young adult isn't one of my favorite genre's, I still can't bring myself to turn away from a good 'ol werewolf. And I'm sure glad I didn't!

Lone Wolf Rising covered basically all the essential of the other paranormal's with vampires and witches too. It had ample attraction, mystery, suspense, and one hell-of-a cliffhanger!

Oh and I just really adored the split love interest too. Made for a fantastic twist!

Stepbrother Untouchable By: Colleen Masters

Calling Nate Thornhill a rich, cocky, arrogant asshole would be an understatement.

He also happens to be stunningly handsome, popular, intelligent, and captain of both the Crew and Lacrosse teams at UVA. I hate him for thinking he’s untouchable—not because he’s a narcissistic, privileged, borderline-misogynistic heartbreaker—but because he’s right.

His first words to me were at a Crew House party, and he literally invited me to have a threesome with him and a random girl. I could’ve died from the embarrassment, he didn’t even know my name at the time, and he didn’t care to. After that night, I promised myself to never waste another second thinking about Nate Thornhilll.

My world becomes a nightmare when I realize my mom’s new husband Pierce has a son who’s my age…and he’s a junior at UVA too. I can’t believe my eyes when Nate walks over and sits down next to us at dinner, introducing himself like he’s never seen me before in his life.

Then I feel his hand on my thigh, underneath the tablecloth with our parents sitting across from us, inching closer and closer to my panties. My mind goes fuzzy, my heart starts racing, and my body does exactly what I don’t want it to do.

And then they hit me with the worst news of all…

Pierce has an internship lined up for me at his firm, and we’re going to live at his Eastern Shore mansion for the summer.

I’ll be sleeping down the hall from my new stepbrother…arguing with him at every breakfast, sitting across from him at every dinner, watching as he brings an endless string of girls back to his room…secretly wishing I was one of them.

I can honestly say that I went into this story without great expectations. I found very mixed reviews on it but decided to give it a fair chance. BUT, I can happily say that it was such a very good story and I fell in love with Brynn and Nate myself!

I know that some people really can't get into books that are the normal and traditional love stories. But that's what makes me glad there are other people out there like me, that really love a story with a twist. This is my third book I've read about step-sibling relationships. The first one was terrifying in such mental abuse ways, though an entertaining read...well it just kinda freaked me out a bit. The second one was so much better in the overall story and how they had come together. I really loved it. This one, being my third is right up there with the second book.

Stepbrother Untouchable is shorter than most of the other books I read, so I was afraid that it was just going to be a "Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am" type of story. Luckily that is not the case. You are quick to adoring Brynn and rooting for her the whole way. Nate and Brynn have some immense sexual tension, but not overloaded amounts. It's more like a 'desirable' amount. The story line is fun and light and adorable.

Shadow in Glass By: J. Rose Alexander

Every little girl dreams of waking up a Princess…

…the reality, Carrie finds out, isn't exactly a fairy tale.

Carrie Whitmore, aspiring journalist, wakes up after a building collapse to find herself in a world where she is a spoiled, bratty princess engaged to a self-indulgent egomaniac. She has no college education and no friends at all. Carrie finds out that "she" wants nothing to do with the crown after the death of her brother and is happy being bitter, cruel and reclusive.

But that's the old Princess Barbara, lost in the tragic accident that slipped Carrie into the Princess's life. Carrie must change the way the people of the Nation perceive her. Her journey to learn who she is in this new world and to deal with the twists and turns of her unwillingly adopted life will change her perception of everything and everyone around her.

And maybe, just maybe, she'll get the fairy tale princess ending every little girl dreams of.

This was a really good read! The plot continued to kept me going and never let go of it's hold on me.

The story of Carrie waking up to find herself as heir to the throne of America (love that America is a Kingdom by the way, lol) and trying to fudge her way into her new reality is quite entertaining! I really enjoyed her finding "herself", which really is finding a way to mix the two personalities.

I loved all the characters and felt really attached to everyone. Maryann, Emma, Jason, Terry, Richard, and especially the sassy Sierra (and I totally wanna hear more of her and Grey!!).

Blood and Kindred By: Lyn Croft

Cara expected a relaxing spring break, free from studying, free from exams. Instead, her reality has been crushed as she is thrown into a world of the supernatural and finds out that the very battle between Heaven and Hell centers around her.

Halflings, Vampyres, and Werewolves are now part of her reality as she struggles to survive. Her best friend is now a vampyre and Zillah, the ancient vampyre queen is still hot on her trail. New enemies emerge as lost loved ones resurface.

In this exciting sequel to BLOOD and LILLIES, the Halflings fight to protect the key while everywhere they turn; they face betrayal and new enemies. Will Eamon lose Cara forever when she finds out the secrets behind the Halfling’s heritage and learns what she truly is? Or will Zillah finally win in her quest and open the portal between all realms, destroying our mortal reality and the key along with it?

A really great second book for the Bloodlines series!

Now that we have more of an understanding of who these characters are and what they're purpose is, thanks to Blood and Lilies, it made it much easier to follow along with the plot in Blood and Kindred.

Cara seriously can't seem to catch a break. It's hard for me to grasp what little time frame we are working with. I feel so bad for her! She barely recoups after some horrible encounter only to be faced with another!

Maybe in the next she will get a few days reprieve! LOL

Oh and we can't forget Kelsey! AH!! My heart is bleeding for her!! I already can't handle what is being done to her and I need to know, like now, what is happening to her!

Blood and Lilies By: Lyn Croft

Once cast from Heaven, Zillah has vowed to destroy God and overtake his kingdom. But a key is needed to open the gates between the two realms.

The Key to the gate walks the earth in the form of a woman...young, innocent and completely unaware of her importance in the battle between good and evil. Once her blood is shed, Zillah can open the portal to release her father...Lucifer himself.

Cara, a college sophomore, is quickly thrown into the world of the supernatural, as well as learning of her true ancestry. Vampires, werewolves and the Nephilim are now a part of her reality. As the beings struggle to protect her, she fights to keep her sanity as her mortal realm is crushed.

Secrets are revealed that could shatter Cara’s new found love, as well as lead to her ultimate death. A family is torn apart as the battle to save the key leads them down a road of betrayal and heartache. Loved ones are lost, lines are crossed, and nothing is as it seems. Lies and truths twist and turn, leaving us with only one question…

Could you sacrifice the one you love to save the world?

I really did enjoy Blood and Lilies! I really love paranormal romance, and though I wish there was more on the romance end for sweet little Cara and Eamon, I'm still happy to have been a part of their connection!

Cara really is such a sweet girl that you can totally relate to and get inside her head. She freaks a bit when learning of the paranormal existence but who wouldn't!? Luckily, it doesn't take her long to come to terms with it and good thing too because the steamy hott Eamon, isn't letting her go anytime soon!

My only conflict with this was the frequent flopping between characters perspective one paragraph to the other. I kept finding myself having to re-read the paragraph to see it wasn't from the perspective I originally thought it was.

I really fell for all the characters and can't wait to learn more about them!

The Lonely Girl By: Gracie Wilson

What if one day you woke up and found your heart had been
shattered? You lost the one person you loved more than anything.

What happens when you learn to move on even though you thought you'd never be able to again? Is it worth the risk to try and let someone in? Is it better to be left alone then take the chance of more heartache?

This time will be different. Becca slowly starts to put the shattered pieces of her heart back together only to have it broken again by someone she trusted. Can her heart that was barely healed in the first place be fixed, again?

Becca falls for someone new, but will her heart be safe. Will she survive the secrets that come out from the past? Love is worth the risk. Can she really believe that? The question is: is he worth the risk?

Holy mother trucker of an emotional roller coaster!

I loved this book! Oh my gosh I didn't want it to end at all!! Oh man, loved it.

Poor sweet, Becca, trying to move on after the unexpected death of her high school love. Moving away to school to be closer to her brother and finding new attraction where she least expected it.

Close friendships that help her through difficult times, and a new love interest play heavily on Becca's emotions.

If only her psycho ex-boyfriend was less on the crazy side.....zomg!!!!!!

Seriously, loved this story! I couldn't put it down and I just didn't want it to end!

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
